Hospitalists: A hospitalist is a primary care physician that only works in a hospital seeing patients. They admit patients for other physicians or when the patient has no physician, care for them during the hospital stay and transfer them to their own primary care doctor when they are discharged or to another primary care physician who has agreed to see those patients in their out-patient office.
