Need antibiotics: You will need to take antibiotics for a kidney infection. They can sometimes cause high fever, back/flank pain, nausea, and vomiting. Water is the best way to stay hydrated. If you find yourself unable to keep fluid or food down, call your doctor right away.

More water ; milk: Water is best. Decaffeinated tea or coffee is good. Blandfruit or vegetable juices ok, but, would avoid citrus or tomato juices until infection has cleared up. Best to avoid alcohol, although a light beer more than 2 hours befpre or after antibiotics is probably ok.
