Yes: Some people can ovulate and not have clear thin cervical mucus. This is considered cervical factor infertility.

Yes: Definitely. Not all women can read their mucous like tea leaves. It can be a helpful tool to determine ovulation, but definitely isn't an obvious marker for every woman.

Female Fertility: Cervical mucous is a sign that some use to tell when they are more fertile. But, ovulation is in no way dependent on cervical mucous. The process of ovulation occurs in the ovary and not the cervix.

No mucus: Obviously this is a concern… since this mucus is driven by estrogen which peaks midcycle i wonder about ovulation. Have you had any surgery done to your cervix-cryosurgery for an abnormal pap smear/cervical dysplasia or a leep procedure? I think a midcycle ultrasound will help elucidate whether or not your ovulating and you can actually see the mucus in the canal by ultrasound at that time.

Not necessarily: Typically the cervical mucus becomes thin and watery in the days prior to ovulation. However these changes do not always happen and one may not notice if they do.
