Not usually.: Fibroids are benign, estrogen mediated tumors. They can start forming at puberty and can form all the way to menopause. Some will get so large that they outstrip their blood supply and start to die. Others will shrink after menopause. But in general, fibroids that are causing you symptoms usually do not just go away by themselves.

After menopause: Fibroids can fluctuate size during different hormonal times (ie: pregnancy). In general, fibroids can be present and potentially grow during the reproductive years. After menopause, when estrogen levels have decreased, fibroids will gradually shrink and can eventually become undetectable. Fibroids should not grow during menopause. Hope this helps.
