Depends: It would depend on the type of infection being treated and the reason Amoxicillin is being avoided. You need to give more detail to your question.

Yes: All drugs expire eventually. There should be an expiration date on your prescription. When in doubt, throw out anything greater than 1 year old.

don't flush drugs down the toilet; they can get into the ground water supply & contaminate wells; check with your doc as to how to dispose of them safely

What r u treating?: Cannot respond unless know why you are taking amoxicillin, but generally missing a dose is not a disaster and you should just resume treatment and complete the course of therapy prescribed.

How do you feel on amoxicillin?

Hopefully better: Not sure what you are asking. Generally Amoxicillin has few side-effects. Some people have mild GI intolerance, and there are allergic reactions. If it is doing its job and was chosen carefully you should feel improved.

A 36-year-old member asked:
How long do amoxicillin side effects last?
1 doctor answer • 1 doctor weighed in

Dr. Martin Raff answered
Infectious Disease 56 years experience
Unlikely: Not particularly toxic, if at all when taken orally. Overdoses may increase risk of secondary fungal overgrowth or antibiotic induced diarrhea but no common fatalities except to allergic reactions, which are not dose dependent. You can avoid all side-effects by not taking it. What side effects are you referring to?
