taste: Many causes lead altered taste. Included are disease in the mouth - especially periodontal. Restorations in the mouth may alter taste. Medications may effect taste. Many systemic diseases have an effect. To best answer this question we need a complete history including list of all medications including herbals, over the counter, and to do a complete exam.

Many causes: There are many causes of a metallic taste and a change in hormone levels is one of the causes. Other causes include medications, periodontal disease, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, diabetes, infections. So it is impossible to really answer your question. A visit to, your doctor and some blood work can help you find an answer.
