At 3-4 dpo, can hcg levels be 500ml/iu? some say no way, others say yes. if yes, how? (this would mean a urine test would be positive).

Typically no: It takes several days for the fertilized embryo to travel down the tube and implant in the uterus. Hcg is only made following implantation and would take a few days to rise to 500. You must not have ovulated when you thought you did.
