A member asked:

Is iron deficiency anemia is different from g6pd deficient?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: G6pd deficiency is an enzyme deficiency within the red blood cell and is an inherited disorder more common in males (because it is x-linked). Iron deficiency anemia is a nutritional problem (most often) that happens when not enough iron is taken in to maintain red blood cell health. This is more common in toddlers who drink too much milk and menstruating females.
