What position does the patient lie in while having a laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (lavh)?

On the back: The position is called "dorsal lithotomy" and is similar to the position a patient assumes for a gynecologic exam (or pap smear). The patient may be repositioned slightly during different portions of the procedure.
