Should be seen: It is possible (although rare) to get pregnant while using an iud. Missing a period is not abnormal with Mirena (levonorgestrel) as this iud causes the uterine lining to thin. I would be concerned about the pain you are having. Need to make sure you are not pregnant (unlikely since neg test and very reliable method of birth control). May also be a problem with the iud and you may need an ultrasound to check that.

IUD and pain: You may have an infection. The iud can act as a focal point for the infection and cause the cramping and pain you are describing. I would see your doctor to find out.
