Parotid mass: Hello, lesions within the parotid gland do indeed require further investigation. A trip to yourent doctor will help identify what you are dealing with. 80% of the masses within the parotid are benign in nature so odds are with you that it isn't a malignancy. Regardless, it must be evaluated with possible imagery, biopsy and excision.

Parotid nodule: Several possibilities exist. A painless nodule could represent a lymph node or a parotid tumor. The majority of tumors are benign but this needs to be addressed by an otolaryngologist. Although other possibilities are possible these two represent the majority of possibilities. An otolaryngologist can better help sort it out. Likely not emergent but i would have it looked at.
