Family vs STD: HPV is a family of viruses. It causes skin warts as well as genital warts but different strains infect different locations. Presently there are 2 main & 2 less common HPV strains that cause anal or genital warts. These are different from the strains that cause regular skin warts. If you have anal/genital warts it came from genital to genital contact.
