Lymphedema: Is caused by a blockage in your lymphatic system, an important part of your immune and circulatory systems. The blockage prevents lymph fluid from draining well, and as the fluid builds up, it causes swelling. Infection, injury (from surgery or cancer treatments) can cause this. Talk to your doctor to see if this could be the case, or if there is another medical reason for your swelling.
