Potentially: The risk of allergic disease in the general population is about 20%. This increases to 50% if one parent is allergic, and 70-80% if both parents are allergic. Early allergy symptoms such as sneezing can be treated with over-the-counter antihistamines, but if there is nasal congestion causing mouth breathing at night, or coughing with exertion or laughing, see an allergist.
