Yes: But only if the prescribing doc agrees. If you did it without notifying that doc, you would be violating the opiate maintenance agreement.

If prescribed : Fentanyl patches are often used in combination with hydrocodone in chronic pain patients. The fentanyl is given to control the around the clock pain and hydrocodone prescribed for breakthrough pain- that is occasional pain not controlled by the fentanyl. It should only be used when needed and only if prescribed by your pain management physician.
