Varicose veins: What you are describing sounds like a varicose vein. Varicose veins are due to malfunctioning (refluxing) valves usually of the saphenous system. The gold standard for treatment would be to have a venous reflux ultrasound and treatment dependent on these findings. You should see a vein specialist for a full venous evaluation.
