Mean conjunctiva?: The white part of the eye is sclera. It is covered by: first a layer called tenon then the most superficial layer conjunctiva. Swelling of the sclera is rare and more dangerous. Swelling of conjunctiva is called chemosis. It can happen with allergy, trauma including post operation, infection, foreign bodies ; a number of other causes.
