One to 4 weeks: The main STIs treated with doxycycline are chlamydia and nongonoccal urethritis (NGU). These require 7 days treatment. Sometimes doxy is used for syphilis, if the patient is allergic to penicillin -- depending on the stage of syphilis, doxy is given for 2 to 4 weeks.
