Depends on cause: If elevated SGOT is due to alcohol then stop drinking. If a medication has caused it then your physician will decide if the med needs to be decreased or discontinued. If due to nonalcoholic fatty liver then low fat, low carb diet + regular exercise + weight loss should help. If due to hepatitis b or c then treatment for the infection is indicated. If from hypothyroidism, treat with synthroid (thyroxine).
