A member asked:

Are hcg levels present in nonpregnant women?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hormone: Hcg is the hormone of pregnancy and made by the placenta. It is most commonly seen in pregnant women. In women with retained placenta they can still have HCG levels. Hcg levels can also be detected in certain tumors, like liver tumors, certain ovarian tumors and others, and if the person is taking HCG shots.
