The heart pumps: Blood to nourish and provide oxygen throughout the body and the rate varies based on body needs. For example, physical exertion requires increased blood flow so the heart best faster and stronger. The heart slows down to 'rest' when the need is less. Fear will increase the heart rate to prepare the body for flight or fight regarding any danger. Best regards.
