Zoloft (sertraline): No zoloft (sertraline) won't raise your cholesterol . There is a rare condition called chidiak-hidachi syndrome where white cells don't move quickly to locations of infection.

Lots of weight gain?: The medication itself shouldn't affect lipids significantly. However, if you gained significant weight (probably 15-20 pounds would do it...), as do many people who take zoloft, (sertraline) this commonly causes rise in triglycerides and lower HDL levels. Such lipid changes also often are clue to rising blood glucose ("pre-diabetes", a.K.A. "metabolic syndrome"), so make sure this is checked as well.

CAUTION!: As you know, the safest is to do this under a doctor's care. Some would suggest that tapering by 10%/month would be safe. It may be, however, that you really need this medication in spite of the issues with weight gain.  Please don't attempt this until you have discussed with your doctor. Best wishes!

Depends on drug: Certain drugs, which are Dopamine antagonists (typically drugs for psychosis, mood disorders, ocd, and some antihypertensives) can cause parkinson-like symptoms. People with dementia may be more sensitive to these drug effects. Several types of dementia, including lewy-body disease may manifest pd symptoms. Pd itself is associated with dementia in about 1/3rd of cases, if they live long enough.

Psychoactive: Agents that affect behavior and mood can typically affect appetite and secondarily weight gain (less frequently loss).  Not really a metabolic shift with Zoloft (sertraline) per se.
