Yes: Urine and blood tests are used to detect the infection in chronic bacterial prostatitis. Sometimes a doctor might massage your prostate and test the semen secretions for the infection. Warm sitz baths &amp; limiting caffeine &amp; alcohol seem to help sxs.

Sometimes: Semen is produced in the prostate and is expelled when you ejaculate. Prostate infection causes inflammation and pain can occur in the prostate, penis, testicles and pelvis. The prostate is most active during arousal / ejac and penis pain is common. Color, volume and consistency of the semen can change. See an md for possible antibiotics. Other causes include: urethral scar, urine infx, stis.

Usually not: UTI and prostatitis usually do not transmit infection sexually. However, your wife should wash up after sex. I recommend that practice in women prone to recurrent UTI.
