29 yrs old, have yellow mucus in my stool every time, nausea, pain in my rectum every time i pass my bowels.i did a colonoscopy and haemmoroids were found in my rectum & also a few small erosions were found in the terminal ileum. what could it mean?

: Did the GI person explain the findings- specially of the Ileum and what to do for it?. If not pl call her/him to do so. It could be related to your diet too. In the meantime try to observe which foods aggravate your symptoms and eliminate them. Hope you feel better

what causes yellow/brown mucus to come out of rectum when passing wind or doing a poop? 12 year old with either/or symptom for a few days, diet hasn't changed, occasional lower tummy cramp but otherwise well. not linked to period.

Mucous: Rectal mucous can be associated with local proctitis, gluten sensitivity or Chron's disease.

Could be many: Things from hemorrhoids, to proctitis, colitis. Generally this is not normal and if it doesn't resolve in a few days best to get examined by a gastroenterologist or colorectal surgeon.

Yes..: Go and see your doctor as soon as possible. This may be a sign of infection, obstruction or any other significant problem. The only way to tell is by examination.

grandmother has influenza a.  on tamiflu (oseltamivir) and tessalon pearls.  nauseated and threw up orange/yellow mucous.  is this normal?  should we worry?

Mabye: It depends. If she is otherwise in good health, she should do well . If she has a high fever, feels weak or short of breath or can't keep down liquids then she could get into trouble quickly. You should give an update to her provider that gave her the tamiflu, (oseltamivir) if you are concerned.

Mucus on stool: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, ; even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies ; probably a sigmoidoscopy should be considered, but a more extensive evaluation may be warranted.
