White tongue common: The tongue is known to have many variations with pigmenting, size, appearance, ; not always due to disease. Causes of a tongue that looks white include: lichen planus (responds to steroids), white sponge nevus (familial, benign, permanent), smoker's leukoplakia (2% risk of cancer, needs biopsy), hairy leukoplakia (due to epsteinbarr virus), warts (due to papillomavirus), "thrush" (rx antifungals).

Not sure...: I have had some patients suggest that but i know of nothing to suggest that it is true.

Candida: Common organism in female tract.
Spreads with sex and recurrent sex.

It's possible: It depends on the symptoms you are trying to treat.  You could have a chronic lingual tonsillitis.  Treatments for oral thrush generally need to be taken for two weeks, so don't give up early.  Significant thrush would likely have been bothering such that it was treated early.  If you are diabetic or use steroid inhalers or antibiotics you are at increase risk for yeast.

how can you tell the difference between oral thrush and geographic tongue? can both be caused by yeast infection?

See below: Thrush is white on the tongue and mucosa on the side and top and bottom of the mouth.  The geographic tongue is not caused by thrush and is benign.  It looks more like continents - thus the name.  If concerned, see your doc.

im worried i might have yeast overgrowth in mysinus, i think i have oral thrush because i have white on my tongue. i and am wondering if it spread to my nasal cavities. not sure if that is possible?

: Your right.  Yeast (Candida) does not invade the sinus cavities (except under VERY rare circumstances)   White on tongue may indicate oral thrush but this is unlikely to occur spontaneously in an otherwise healthy 27 yo.  Could be as benign as not eating hard or rough food to scrape away normal buildup of tissue on tongue.

See your dr soon: You definitely will want to see your doctor very soon. For you to have used infections and oral thrush, you need to have your immune system evaluated further. You may need to consult with an integrative physician to get their recommendations to evaluate your nutritional status, lab values, stressors, and to see how  you can support your intestinal system better by staying away from sugars and starches.

Many: Thrush would be extremely unusual in a normal adult without there being some underlying reason. If you are sexually active and unprotected you may want to have yourself tested.  Strep infections can occur with some frequency, again depending on many variables. If we can help more, ask again. Best.

Tough issue to treat: Natural treatment for oral thrush is a tough go, as well as even treatments with medications.  I would try ot contact some naturopathic or holistic physician or provider and search out results.

Thrush: Candida, the yeast which causes thrush, is always present in both the mouth and vagina normally. Thrush only occurs when the yeast overgrow. This can be triggered by antibiotic use, use of oral or inhaled steroids, or by immune suppression. If your symptoms are resolved, then you should be OK to resume regular activities.
