Maybe: You may have a problem with estrogen balance. Estrogen helps the lining of the uterus and vaginal wall. An imbalance of estrogen may leave your vagina and uterus susceptible to an opportunistic infection like yeast. Also, the pH of the vagina is important. An old wives tale which my patients swear by is to put yogurt with active cultures in the vagina. Also, check your blood sugar for diabetes.

Azole drug: If you've had vaginal yeast infections before and your symptoms are similar, probably your self diagnosis is correct. If uncertain, see a doctor. Excellent over-the-counter treatments are several "azole" drugs (miconazole, clotrimazole, many others). All are equally effective; you can safely choose the least costly. For sure see a doctor if it doesn't clear up your symptoms after a week.

Rarely probably no: Make sure you are also checked for Diabetes , Immunosupression and that you are not on steroids like prednisone.
Recurrent yeast infections occur frequently in the above mentioned conditions.

Some tips: Natural approaches to yeast infections: 1. Wear underwear that is cotton vice synthetic 2. Avoid wearing underpants when you go to bed at night. 3. Don’t wear tight fitting panties & pantyhose. 4. Use natural tampon/ feminine pads (avoid those which are scented). 5. Avoid douches as well as use of harsh, drying soap on genitalia. 6.
