Late period ?'s: Your normal ovulation cycle may be delayed after "two years" on bcp's, as effects of stress will be masked by the oral bcp's.  If your period does not occur within six weeks after your last oral bcp, see your gyn for testing and a serum HCG pregnancy test.

i started yasmin birth control today after being off for five months. i am reading stats on the chance of blood clots and have myself worried, i'm young workout and had been on this medication for almost five years before stopping. is yasmin safe ?

Alternatives: The concern is over the drospirenone (synthetic progesterone) component of the pill.  Some studies suggest that Yasmin and Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) may have a higher risk of venous blood clots than older birth control pills.  However, there are risks associated with any pill, and the benefits generally outweigh the risks.  The decision of which pill to use should be made between you and your doctor.

i have been to 2 doctors erhom have given me pain meds and migraine tablets, none of the medication is working. both doctors advised that i go see a gynae and go off my pill - yasmin. i'm still getting really bad migraines and i need help?

Birth control pills,: such as yours may be making the headache worse, and also increase risk of stroke, in some patients. A non estrogen, progesterone only birth control might be better and safer.

Cannot answer...: The answer to your question lies in why you are having irregular periods?  Is it high prolactin, polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid issues, or something else.  This info is very important to correct the problem.

Spotting is common: Spotting is common after missing a birth control pill.  It is usually recommended to take the missed pill once you realize that you missed it.  Due to the fluctuation in hormone levels from missing that pill, you may have intermittent light spotting for the next week, but it will most likely resolve after a day or so.  You also must use backup contraception for the rest of the pill pack.

Yes: Pretend the Zoely is just another pack of Yasmin and take it the same way your were doing before. Finish one packet and start the next day on new packet.

do bc pills work in the first month you take them? i was on diane35 for 4 months, switched to yasmin after 7 day break this month, is it effective?

Bcp switch: As long as no more than seven days passed since the last pill of "diane35", the Yasmin is effective. If one starts a new package on day 5 of the low dose bcp "placebo" pills, instead of day 7, it prevents early ovulation in the next cycle which is rare, but can occur.
