Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time)  is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time.  If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen  then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the patch is not working.

That : That is an abnormal cycle and should be addressed.  If there is any chance she could be pregnant, then she should take a test.  She should consider having thyroid levels obtained.  Her weight should be assessed as either too low or too high of a weight can cause menstrual irregularities.  Her abnormal menses should have a full medical evaluation.

For sure is not normal that happens. It could be due to several reasons including polycystic ovary syndrome or disregulation between your ovaries and the glands that control them.

Pregnancy is the common cause of a missed period, if sexually active.

Have to count days: Because each calendar month is 30-31 days, except february, what happens when a woman has normal 28-day periods? Every month, her period will start on an "earlier" numerical day, except for in march. In march, her period should start on the same day it did in february, because february has 28 days. Of course, real life is not so exact (even 28-day periods vary a bit.

No: It is not typical for a 29 year old woman to have menstrual periods every three months without any type of birth control plan in place.  You should get checked for PCOS, hormonal issues, etc..  Make sure pregnancy is not a consideration. Follow up with a gyn is advised.
