: You should not use both because too much hormones in your body can exacerbate the side effect such as deep venous thrombosis, etc. The contraceptive effect won't change much with combined use and the risk is much higher than the benefit. Take care.

: During the first few months your body is adjusting to the contraceptive patch, you may have some vaginal bleeding in addition to the usual bleeding during your patch-free week.  It may vary from spot to a heavier loss like a light period. Do not stop using your patch.If this happens for more than few months, then you should approach to your PCP.

If you start: close to the beginning of your cycle, first day or two of flow, it works quickly, otherwise about two weeks, it may help early. However, that may not be as successful as you would prefer.

Pregnancy test: The Xulane patch is replaced weekly for 3 weeks (21 total days).  The fourth week is drug free.   If you have been taking it correctly, you should have a period during the free week.  If you didn't, you need a pregnancy test.   Some women will stop having periods on the patch but you can't assume this.  Best wishes!

No such percentages: In real life, there are no such answers like percentage numbers. If there was no ejaculation, the chance of pregnancy is always very low. If one has regular periods, and the next period is missed by a week, just do a urine pregnancy test at that time.

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time)  is very normal on Birth control. it happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time.  If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen  then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working.

Withdrawal : Withdrawal of birth control is highly unlikely to cause weight gain. Without birth control you may be pregnant which can cause an initial, significant weight gain. Other issues are thyroid dysfunction. Sometimes the estrogen in oral contraceptives can cause nausea and now you may be relieved of this nausea.

Losing insurance should not prevent you from obtaining contraception. Wal-mart has very cheap birth control as does planned parenthood and neighborhood health clinics. The clinics can also evaluate for thyroid dysfunction. I would suggest that you check out one near you.
