Most: Most cancers do not necessarily affect your cbc.  Exceptions include hematologic malignancies like leukemia and myeloma.  Sclc and testicular cancer are not typically associated with CBC abnormalities.

No single test: There are multiple types of testicular cancer and no single blood test can diagnose the various types.  Positive tests for beta HCG and Alpha feto-protein indicate two types of testicular cancers.

Testicular cancer: The self test you are looking for is called a physical exam!  basically you must be familiar with your own body in order to notice any changes. Men are really supposed to exam their testicles once a month just as women are asked to exam their breasts once a month. Just pick a day of the month and get it done. If you feel a knot or lump see your doctor.

Stage of tumor.: Scrotal self exam is probably the best test you can do at home.  Otherwise your doctor can order an alphafetoprotein (afp), beta human Chorionic Gonadotropin (b-hcg), chest xray, and abdominal+pelvic ct scan.  These help determine the stage of the tumor.  In addition AFP is high only in non-seminoma, while b-hcg ican be high in both seminoma and non-seminoma.

It usually does not: Work this way.  There is no indication to get these tests unless a mass is suspected, in the testes or a midline abnormality most commonly in a young man.  The blood tests, Alpha feto protein and human Chorionic Gonadotropin are indicated to help point the origin of a testis or mediastinal mass. The disease is unusual enough to make these test as routine screening not worthwhile.

Can help differentia: Tumor markers in testicular cancer such as beta HCG and AFP are not as specific as other markers like psa for prostate cancer, but can be useful in differentiating pure seminoma from mixed or non seminoma testicular cancers.  They are not screening tools.
