No: If one has hookworm infestation, the worm is generally not seen in the stool but hookworm eggs are.  Dog hookworm can cause rashes in people related to the larval form (cutaneous larva migrans) but not mature to its adult form.

Usually not obvious: Pinworms are fairly common in this age group.  They are small white worms that come out of the anus at night. .
If you suspect piworms wait until dark when the child is asleep.  Then take a flashlight and check your child's anal area.  If you see small thread like wiggleing white things, call your doctor.  This not a emergency but as a parent it is upsetting.
