help i woke up this morning n i can't move my neck mainly to the left. is this whiplash?

No: Whiplash specifically refers to the soft tissue injury caused by a jerking or whipping motion of the head - most commonly caused by a car accident.  So that would be nearly impossible to do to yourself in your sleep.  More likely, you may have degenerative discs (discs with wear and tear) in your neck which have been aggravated.  Most such cases will resolve simply with time and conservative care.

i woke up yesterday and couldnt move my neck without it being in significant pain. my pcp prescribed toradol but my neck still hurts really bad. what else can i do to feel better?

: I would try applying heat for 20-30 minutes  or alternating cold with heat for 20-30 minutes( whatever feels better) several times a day. . I would then try gentle massage and then wear a soft neck collar as needed until severe pain lessens. . Your MD may be willing to prescribe a muscle relaxant for you. If not improving, get reexamined.

i woke up with severe neck and shoulder pain. i can't move my neck or right shoulder. the pain shoots down, could be spasms? should i get a voltaren injection and where can i get one today? or what should i do?

See a doc: You describe painful symptoms, but not a diagnosis as to it’s cause. See a PMR or pain doc for a work up to determine the why is this happening. Once you know the diagnosis, treatment options can be chosen. In the meantime, oral NSAIDS and other pain relievers make sense, as well as a pillow which provides proper support for both head and neck overnight. Good luck

Previous 24 hours: Many times this senerio  relates to activity in tthe previuous days activities. If you have been doing something that inflames the joints or muscles you may not have noticed while you are active and when you sleep the inflammation effect are noticed  as the active movement ceases. It could also be your mattress . Try other mattresses and try 800 mg advil (ibuprofen) prior to bed.

The neck/cervical: spine joints, like all joints, are bathed in an oily-like substance called synovial fluid which facilitates smooth movement. Theories about crepitus (these noises) include changes in synovial joint fluid pressure or gaseous bubbles forming or bursting. Or sounds from ligaments or tendons as they move over bones, etc.  Bone on bone grinding due to worn down cartilage from arthritis very rare at 23.

NSAID's, warm packs: Usually, NSAID's like ibuprofen, as well as warm packs help with that sort of pain.

You can't/shouldn't: You can't tell if it's serious or not. That's not your role in this. If you don't know what the cause is, there's no way to know how to make it go away. See your doctor.

Meningitis: If you have a fever or any other significant symptom than just a stiff neck you would be smart to seek out medical attention urgently. If you have no other symptoms and are free of fever then normal anti-inflammatory medications such as aleve (naproxen) or Ibuprofen may be all you need.

Neck pain: Consult your doctor immediately to rule out the possibility of an abscess in her pharynx.

Neck pain: It is certainly not unusual to wake up with stiiff neck from the position we were sleeping. If no fever and no injury, take ibuprophen and put warmth to the area. If it is not improving go see your doctor.
