Weight gainers: Tooth decay is often a side effect of weight gain products because they tend to have a lot of high glycemic carbohydrates in them.  They are also hypothesized to cause free radical damage.  These are not FDA tested or approved.  Consider instead trying a higher calorie healthy diet along with strengthening exercise.

No way to tell : Unfortunately, dietary supplements are regulated as foods (as opposed to drugs).  As such, they are not required to undergo the same testing (or prove their claims to be true). Also, since no third party testing of their product is required - the ingredients listed don't even have to match what is in the bottle.  Wish I had a better answer ... Good luck!

In moderation: High dietary protein intake, due to its acid-producing load, increases urinary calcium excretion (with potential risk for bone loss and calcium stone formation if you eat 0.8 g/kg, kg not lbs). You can take between 0.64 - .82g/lb if your bodybuilding, but there hasn’t been any recorded advantage of consuming more than 0.64g/lb and you can get the risk that i stated above once

Caution: Nutritional supplements for muscle development can be dangerous if the kidneys are overloaded with too much protein.  Most people can achieve adequate results by dietary modification, without the extra expense and risk.

Diet and Exercise: The healthiest way to gain healthy weight is with healthy diet and exercise. If you eat fattening foods you might gain fat weight and spend the rest of your life trying to lose it. Fruits vegetables and reasonable servings of protein, like fish, meat, &amp; cheese, and don't overdue bread, pasta, potatoes or rice. Plenty of water. Daily exercise without injury, anything you will do with enthusiasm.

Weight Gain: Weight gain can occur for a number of reasons. In some cases, yes a medicine can increase your appetite. This can occur with some antidepressants. Others such as corticosteroids can affect your hormonal balance and cause a person to retain more fluid, thus increasing weight.

Wellbutrin (bupropion) is more: likely to be associated with weight loss than weight gain in depressed patients.

Yes: Work with a nutritionist. All of my patients on medications that can lead to weight gain, see a nutritionist at least once for education. Those who are struggling see the nutritionist for follow up.  Take care.
