Headache: Yes. Headache is the most common symptom. But other symptom in the skin, indigestion may occur up to 14 days after stopping.

Yes: There was some controversy about saccharin in relation to a laboratory study in which very high levels caused bladder tumors in rats.  Most other sweeteners have an excellent safety profile..  A few have objections for various reasons to aspartame.  But sucralose and others seem totally fine.

: They don't directly.  I suppose if a person is dilutional enough to think by avoiding sugar (with such sweeteners) they may feel they can eat all they want. They then get overweight &amp; adult onset diabetes is a potential outcome.

The topic of artificial sweeteners on metabolism and satiety is highly controversial.  Some studies say artificial sweetners make rodents more Insulin resistant, others suggest that people gain a better sense of satiety w/them. It'll take years to sort out.

That said, when did you start to have diabetes? If it was in your 30's or more you can be treated to totally get rid of diabetes. Please see a dietitian!

Sweeteners.: Artificial sweeteners can cause several non-specific systemic symptoms - fatigue, drowsiness, achiness, headaches - especially if used in large amounts throughout the day.  Stop using the, for a while, drink enough water through the day to that your urine is almost clear, and see if the headaches go away.  If not (give it a few days), see your doctor.

Thyroid can, but: Overactive thyroid can cause intolerance to caffeine, but it's not likely. Intolerance to artificial sweeteners is very rate. It may be a combination of multiple things going on in your life.

Yes they are: Hi. Sugar is healthy as long as it's not overdone. Sugar has calories and can be converted to fat for storage. Artificial sweeteners have no calories, but provide nothing healthy to the body. I don't keep any artificial sweeteners in my house, but I also use little real sugar. Live healthy!
