Take the treatment: Knowing you are pregnant, your doctor would not have prescribed treatment unless s/he believed it would be safe for the pregnancy and your baby. In fact, the opposite is true:  BV itself risks premature labor and other complications. Take the treatment as prescribed, or contact your doctor if you still have questions about it.

mild yeast infection starting meds. i am 38wks pregnant, i was wondering if the yeast infection medicine would bother my baby if i went into labor?

Yeast Infection: During pregnancy physicians recommend vaginal creams and suppositories only. The oral medication, Diflucan (fluconazole) (a single-dose medication), has not been proven safe during pregnancy and lactation. If left untreated, yeast infections can pass to your baby's mouth during delivery. This is called "thrush" and is effectively treated with nystatin. See your doctor for treatment.

He may get yeast inf: If you have an infection when you go into labor, though, there's a chance that your newborn will contract it as he passes through the birth canal. If he does, he may develop a yeast infection in his mouth

I am concerned: You are 30 weeks and high risk, you need to be comfortable sending any and all questions to your doctor or midwife. This is a good question here but a risk this is not yeast. Any uncertainty is unacceptable in your situation.  If anyone at the other end of the phone acts annoyed with your questions that is their problem, not yours. It's safe : Topical yeast medication is safe to use even if you go into labor or dilate. Treat the yeast.

Possibly: If the baby is delivered naturally the yeast could put the newborn at risk. I think your OB/GYN should address this question. Good luck

Generally No...: Yeast infections can be caused by a pH imbalance of the vagina that can occur commonly in pregnancy due to hormonal changes. This overgrowth of a fungus can be treated at any time during pregnancy with antifungals like Monistat otc or terazol (terconazole) via a prescription. Yeast infections can cause vaginal itching, redness of the vagina, and a white clumpy discharge that looks like cottage cheese.
