If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Can be hard to tell: Emergency contraception pills are hormones and alter a woman's periods for that month and the month after.  One can take a pregnancy test (follow the instructions on the package) about 3 weeks after sex.  If still worried, and if the next period doesn't look or seem normal, one can repeat a pregnancy test.

Emergency contracept: Emergency contraception causes irregular bleeding. This is normal but is not a normal period. It is hard to say when your next period will occur. The emergency contraceptives need to be taken within 72 hours after sex and waiting 72 hours is pushing the envelop of its effectiveness. I'd suggest a pregnancy test in 3 weeks to be sure as well as starting a reliable method of contraception.

Possible pregnancy: If you had vaginal bleeding after you took the Plan B (or equivalent) then treat that as you period.  If you are more than 7 days late for your period,  check a home pregnancy test.  If you are having sex and don't want to get pregnant, you should see a doctor to get on a reliable method of birth control.  I also recommend having your partner wear condoms to help prevent pregnancy and STDs.

Probably not, but...: A urine pregnancy test done correctly will give a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (or when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and therefore lead to a repeat test. If a woman has her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and the test is not needed yet.
