can a random itch in penis that comes and goes be normal i've had  numerous ua and urine culture. it don't show anything i've had blood work all std negative. any chance it's safe to say i'm std free ? gonna be trying for a baby soon and want 2b safe?

: As advised earlier, random itch is not a usual feature of STDs. Change your laundry detergent and add extra rinse to the wash.

: Itching may be due to sensitivity to your laundry detergent. Try changing the detergent and adding an extra wash step to the laundering process. If that does not help, it would be prudent to consult a doctor. The itching is not a usual sign of STD.

NOT NECESSARILY: It depends upon why you are seeing the doctor and what issues the doctor is focusing on.  These tests must be ordered individually.  If you are concerned that you may have been exposed to an std go and ask to be tested.  Hope they are all negative.

i just got blood work done and tested negative for any stds, however i do have sores down there. could i have gotten a false negative?

Tested too soon?: Blood tests usually cannot accurately diagnose active genital sores. For example, if it&#x27;s new herpes, it takes several weeks for blood tests to be positive. The sores themselves may need to be tested for various kinds of infeciton. If you have several painful sores mostly around the vaginal opening or labia minor, new herpes is probable. But many other possibilities, depending on details.

can you get tested for all std's and sti's by blood work and urine test?

Not quite: Urine testing (or vaginal swab) checks for gonorrhea and chlamydia, and blood tests are for syphilis, HIV, and sometimes herpes (HSV) and hepatitis B (depending on risks, symptoms, etc). Testing for HPV (with pap smear), trichomonas, and other vaginal infections requires pelvic exam.  By the way, STD and STI are the same thing; there is no difference in meaning between the two abbreviations.

what's the point of getting a baseline in blood work when you are concerned that you might have contracted an std. also how soon after an encounter should you be getting this baseline?

: If you have been at ongoing risk for STDs, baseline blood tests for syphilis and HIV may be wise; and if negative, to redo the tests later to see if they have become positive. Other blood tests usually aren't helpful (e.g. HSV, viral hepatitis, etc). Often it's more important to have test(s) for gonorrhea and chlamydia of exposed sites (e.g. genital or urine, sometimes throat or rectum).

: No, not likely. Longer times to test results rarely are the result of having a positive result.

Not necessarily: This depends on the clinical picture of "very ill"  The most pertinent information regarding std's is carried out with a pelvic exam. Don't forget that your medical record is YOUR record.  You can get a copy of this from the hospital with a request.   If you have symptoms persisting, then I would followup as an outpatient with a visit to address them.

Ultrasound: An ultrasound is a type of imaging study used to visualize part of the body. It is most commonly associated with pregancy, but has hundreds of uses.It is noninvasive and painless. It is also safe and relatively inexpensive(compared to other radiology tests).

Vaginosis: You may have a fungal infection. Have your doctor take a fungal culture.
