Depends on where : From the point of view of anatomy where exactly it is will determine what it may be. Certainly a large lymph node may be a good thought . So it depends on what the doctor reading the study says compared to the throat. Best talk to you doctor. Also a CT may be needed to really see what is going on.

Globus: Globus hystericus, or globus pharyngitis, is a sensation of a lump in the throat, with no pathology. If there is no pain, and swallowing is normal, then it's probably globus. If you have a palpable neck lump, or pain, or abnomal swallowing, then there is something wrong and you should see an ENT doctor.

i have a hard fixed nodule directly on my right clavicle near throat. x ray and blood work are clear however ultrasound shows solid mass. no pain.

Have it worked up: Lumps in the neck can be caused by a number of things. They range from benign (like lymph nodes responding to an infection, cysts, or non-cancerous tumors) to serious conditions like cancer. If it is suspicious, then a fine needle aspiration (needle biopsy) would be the next step.

What is your ?: Did your child undergo lymph node biopsy?? If so, do you have a pathology report? Have you discussed this with the treating physician? These lymph nodes are tiny and usually indicate some type of underlying infection.

Normal lymph nodes: Have a kidney bean appearance with fat in the central part of the node. This configuration usually persists when nodes are enlarged by a benign inflammatory response. Nodes involved with cancer cells often loose the central fat, enlarge asymmetrically, have an irregular outer surface, and show increased blood flow in the outer surface of the node.

: Ultrasound has been shown to be as effective as CT scan in detecting laryngeal pathology.  Of course Laryngoscopy, performed by the ENT, directly visualizes the larynx and enables the taking of a biopsy.

&lt; 1 cm SA = good: Lymph nodes with short axis measurements of less than 1 cm are not, technically, considered adenopathy, although widespread early metastatic disease cannot be excluded (would require a pet scan).  The lack of anything else worrisome per history is reassuring.  I don't know what "me" is, but ultrasound surveillance of the neck nodes in 4-6 months to ensure stability would be helpful.

what could cause only the lymph nodes on the left side of my neck to be swollen (2cm) and have a tender feeling especially to touch, that an ultrasound wont show?

Lymph nodes: It sounds as if there is some source of inflammation on that side.  Either dental, tonsillar or other oral structures.  Lymph nodes fight diseases for a living and they get large and tender while doing so.  This should resolve when the source of the inflammation recedes or is treated.
