Chlamydia: The dose of azithromycin used to treat chlamydial infections is usually 1000 mg.  A half dose of 500 mg may be effective in a person of smaller stature with a mild infection.

It depends...: Are you sure it didn&#x27;t cure? Can&#x27;t tell by symptoms, only if a test still shows chlamydia. Even then, testing too soon can give false result; retesting shouldn&#x27;t be done sooner than 3 weeks. Sex with an untreated partner, or a new partner with chlamydia, could seem like treatment failure but really a new infection. Azithromycin works less well in the rectum, from which cervix can be reinfected.

Many issues: I find it odd that a virgin carries chlamydia, but it could be acquired with heavy petting. That aside, treatment failure can occur when the sex partner is not treated at the same time, with  a new  infected exposure gives it to you, or if the diagnosis was wrong in the first place. The most common reason for repeat disease is sex with an infected partner some of which have no symptoms.

Chlamydia ?'s: Chlamydia is treated successfully by Azithromycin, but retesting is more accurate if done in 10 days to two weeks after finishing a course of antibiotics, as resistance to a specific antibiotic may occur.  Your sexual contacts and any of their respective contacts should be treated as well to limit as much as possible the chance for recurrent infection.

No: The correct dose of Azithromycin is 1000mg not 500 mg. One 500 mg is not adequate for treatment. After treatment we recommend avoiding intercourse for 2 weeks to ensure it has resolved.
