when i do pushups my elbows make a popping sound, no pain. one pop when arm straighten. what?

Popping elbow: This sound is a stiff tendon moving across a bone. Warm up your elbows first, even with heat from a pad. And make your first few pushups half pushups, so that strain is lessened until ypu are more warmed up. Full exercise with cold snapping tendons can irritate and possibly strain or sprain further.

after playing basketball, my arm hurts from my fingertips up to my elbow. does this sound serious?

Ulnar nerve pain?: It sounds like you might have some inflammation of your ulnar nerve. This is the thick cord in your elbow that you hit and call your "funny bone." irritating this can cause the sort of pain pattern you are describing. It might be worth getting checked out with your doc if ice, rest and nsaids doesn't calm it down.

Blood clots are dangerous and thus you should be examined as soon as possible, preferably in the hospital emergency room where prompt attention and testing are available. If needed, appropriate specialist(vascular surgeon, hematologist) will be called in.

i am awoken 3-5 times in the night because my right arm is locked up at the elbow with roughly a 4 in the pain scale. to ease the pain i have to force my elbow joint to open which sounds like splitting kindling and some pain. noise drives wife crzy?
