May be normal: There is no "normal" menstrual flow other than overall amount and duration.  If you are not changing pads or tampons hourly and your menses are up to about 8 days total, then this may be what your flow is now.  It may change in the future.  A woman's menstrual flow is not the same her entire lifetime.  Clots are not by themselves significant.

Chipmunk you are still young, cycle may not be stable. Emotions can cause changes, diet, weight and excessive exercise, 
medications, birth control pills, or if it runs in the family. More concerning would be ectopic pregnancy but doubtful. See an obgyn. Dr. David ball and purnima purohit

Causes for what seems to be a light period can include: thyroid problems, eating disorders, excessive exercise, initial periods for a girl, use of an intrauterine device, oral contraceptives, perimenopause ; implantation bleeding in early pregnancy which rarely occurs.

Heavy Menses: Most often this will indicate that you are not ovulating regularly. But, it could indicate a problem pregnancy, uterine fibroid or endometrial polyp. A pregnancy test and transvaginal ultrasound by a gynecologically trained ultrasound techinician or physician can often provide insight. If the uterine lining is thickened, your physician may choose to do an endometrial biopsy.

See your doc...: Heavy periods can be caused by many things such as fibroid tumors, adenomyosis, infection, problems with your blood's clotting system and many more.  Some women have such heavy periods that they become anemic.  The only way to know the reason in your specific case it for you to see an Ob/Gyn.  Best wishes!

It happens sometimes: In a woman with regular periods, some causes of a late period include: excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (like hormone pills or birth control pills), hormonal imbalances, etc…  Seeing a doctor is a good idea if symptoms are recurring or worrisome. Pregnancy is the common cause of a missed period if sexually active.

Many options: There are multiple options. Hormonal treatments such as birth control pills, Progesterone treatments and the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud are effective reversible treatments that will help many people. There is also a drug called Lysteda that contains no hormones which will help others. If you are done having children discuss the option of an endometrial ablation. In some cases a hysterectomy will be needed.

Get examined by your: Gyn. Possibilities include hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroids, cervical/ endometrial polyps, autoimmune condition, pid/pelvic inflammatory disease, iud, malignancy of cervix/uterus, certain blood disorder like von willebrand's dse. Etc.

Only your dr can accurately make the correct diagnoses.
