why is my period late every month?

Don't Know.: Missed/late period: low body wt, obesity, weight ^ or v,  ^exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, perimenopause, just starting menstruation, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems (i.e., polycystic ovary syndrome). #1 reason is pregnancy.

i have normal cycle of periods every month and i got my period 25th december then i got it 31st january i got my period late but it only last 3/4 days and havent had my period since?

: If pregnancy is possible, obtain a "home" pregnancy test and see your GYN physician if the test is negative for an exam and other testing for guidance.

Do a pregnancy test: If the pregnancy test is negative i dont see a problem, especially if you eventually get you period (within 36 dyas from last period). Rare for cycles to be exactly the same if not on birth control pills. Bleeding longer and heavy is more indicative of a problem.

why is my period late? i havent had sex in 27 days. my cervix dropped like my period was going to start but i didnt get it. since my last period ive been taking high amounts of vitamin c and ive started going to the gym and working out every day?

: Would check HCG level. May be stress, exercise (though that is usually i really elite athletes.) can cause amenorrhea( no period ) if HCG negative consider ultrasound. F/u/ w/ gyn.

Many do: It's common and normal to have a variation in menstrual cyclicity.  One day late is meaningless. If you're more than 4 days late, consider the pregnancy test. It's always better to know.

You : You will not necessarily have the same symptoms every month prior to your period. This sounds like your regular cycle started and the sharp pain you had was normal uterine cramping that occurs before and during menstruation. If your period lasts longer than usual or has been heavy and has not slowed down then you likely have nothing to worry about. If not, please see your doctor.

Gyn Dr indicated: Women who experience a cessation of periods may have underlying conditions such as stress, weight gain/loss, hormone imbalance, uterine polyps or adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, or several other problems. These problems can be evaluated, diagnosed and treated by a Gyn Dr.

Many possible causes: This is not too unusual and is seldom serious. Many possible causes include stress,excessive exercise,being under or overweight,various nutritional deficiencies including low iron or essential fatty acids,over or under-active thyroid. It has been frequently observed among female nursing students that they often miss their periods around exam times. If stress is not the cause, a complete evaluation by an obgyn is appropriate as other causes may include endocrine disorders.

Check preg test: First step is to check a pregnancy test. Over-the-counter pregnancy tests are cheap and reliable. If the test is positive you will need to seek prenatal care. If the pregnancy test is negative then wait to see if your cycle comes soon and if not schedule a visit with an obgyn.
