About Atarax...: In the US, the recommendation is not to use cold medications such as decongestants, antihistamines, and cough suppressants in babies or young children who have typical cold symptoms. We do use asthma medications when there are asthma symptoms, which can include wheezing, coughing, etc... Each patient and each illness has its individual characteristics, so it is hard to generalize.

ER: Take her immediately to the er for evaluation and observation. The Atarax (hydroxyzine) itself should not hurt the baby, but the sedation it causes could stop her from breathing.  Need to go to the er immediately.

No, too strong: I think Atarax (hydroxyzine)  is a bit too strong to use for bug bites in a baby. It can cause sedation. If the bites don't bother her, leave them alone and they will resolve on their own. If she is very itchy and uncomfortable, see your doctor to make sure it is bug bites before you medicate an infant.

: Would avoid taking the two medications together.  Sounds like your regular doctor and the ER were unaware of the other's prescribing.  Contact your regular doctor and acquire an appropriate plan.  Perhaps a psychiatrist should become involved.

Adjust medications: I would advise seeing an allergist right away. If you have Prednisolone at home, please take the medication as directed while continuing your other medications. You are experiencing an allergic reaction which has worsened. Watch for trouble swallowing and trouble breathing. If these symptoms occur, please go the Emergency room. Allergic reactions may be prolonged. Allergy testing indicated.
