why does the right side of my neck been hurting for wks now or a month or two, cant remember exactly, the pain goes to my right arm, i sleep on my back and have a pillow thats raised,i wear a neck brace at night,no other weird symptoms, just sore?

: If there is no lump like a lymp node, you probably strained a muscle and maybe when you sleep the neck is not adequately supported.  You have not done what need be done to relieve the strain and the neck brace at night may not be what you need but a good pillow that supports you when asleep. I doubt that the brace is meant for you to sleep in. See MD if worse or if there is lump or skin changes.

I don't think you: Can be sure that it is your artery, because it could be muscle, lymph node, or vein, or even pinched nerve.  Unless you had an injury, it could be something serious.  Please show it to a doctor for specific diagnosis and treatment.

last wk i was taking aspirin 325mg cause the right side of my neck hurt and my right arm, took it for 4 nights to help me sleep, the last night i was dizzy all night,i stopped it and 2 nights i wasnt dizzy at all,its been healing so did aspirin cause?

: Aspirin may help with sleep by relieving pain, but otherwise generally has no effect on sleep. It is not a likely cause of dizziness.

i have parathyroid issues,couldnt sleep good last night cause the right side of my neck hurt and the pain goes to my arm, i sleep on my back cause of hip implants and i wear a neckbrace too,i took aspirin last night,so how can i sleep nights with thi?

: My sense is that your neck discomfort was not due to parathyroid issues but was caused by nerve impingement by spurs or bulging disc at a neck vertebra. Sleeping with a soft cervical collar on may or may not help. I recommend looking into physical therapy and consulting a pain management specialist. If your orthopedic surgeon agrees, you could consult a neurologist for evaluation and testing.

Exam: you must be examined and xrays of your neck should be taken.This can be either muscular strain/spasm or an arthritic condition of your cervical spine.Call your doctor for an examination.

Evaluate Neck: If you are not improving have your doctor order a cervical spine mri.  Many times a herniated disc in the neck can cause pain especially if you have not improved with the medications and physical therapy.  If it is a herniated disc you may need evaluation from a spine specialist to determine what other options might be needed (injections, surgery, etc) to help reduce pain.

Neck pain: 1st I am a psychiatrist. Depending on the force and mass of the object you could have herniated a disc on opposite side of the trauma. See a doctor and try to get a  mri.

Many Reasons: Your neck could be hurting for many reasons. See your doctor to find out. Your smoking, however, is by far the more serious problem, as it can lead to lung cancer, heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, laryngeal cancer, chronic pain, depression, and early death, as well as decreased quality of life. Please quit!!!!!!
