why does my skin take so long to heal on my foot?

Several reasons: If you have a wound that is taking too long to heal you should have a physician check it out.  Age, health conditions, vascular status, nutritional status all play a role in the healing of wounds.

skin abrasion, top of foot 4 weeks ago. healed enough that i can wear socks and sneakers, but my foot is still swollen, not hot or discolored. have been to dr 2x, no infection. how long will this take to heal or what can i do to help?

: Lymphatic disruption can take months to go away. especially in areas that are most affected by gravity, like feet and legs. Would wear compression stocking on involved leg, elevate foot whenever possible. A session with a therapist who does lymphedema therapy would also be a very good investment,  to teach you whole body techniques to reduce the swelling.Even appropriate breathing techniques help!

See derm: See dermatologist to see if you have fungal infection. Even if it's dry skin there's a good treatment for this problem.

Your : Your question is a bit vague, since i don't know where this spur is, whether your swelling is limited to your foot or involves the leg or both feet, whether there was any injury, or how long you've been feeling this way.

But given the limited information you posted, i'll do my best....

The most common place for a spur to form is under the heel.  Heel spurs are very common, and we have learned the hard way that heel spurs do not cause pain (unless they break).  It's the ligament that originates at the spur, the plantar fascia, that can become inflamed and cause pain in the heel.  But plantar fasciitis rarely causes swelling; certainly not the kind of swelling you are describing.

If only one foot is swollen, the reason is probably local.  What i mean is the problem exists in the foot or leg.  If the swelling involves both feet, the cause is probably systemic, meaning your body is retaining fluid for some reason, and the only reason the swelling is showing up in the feet or lower legs is because of gravity.

Clearly, your best course of action is to see your own doctor and find out whether this is a local problem or if you're retaining water.  Only after this is diagnosed can an effective treatment be advised.

This : This can be anything from a simple skin fissure to skin cancer.  There is simply not enough information to give you a meaningful answer.  So, so many things can cause "sores" on the foot that it's impossible to tell without seeing it and knowing more information.

Why not just go to a podiatrist and find out what's wrong?

the skin on my legs from lower mid calf to foot has darkened considerably in spots. i have an ulcer/blister on the side of my foot where it meets ankle that doesn't seem to heal. does anyone know what this could be? thank you for any insights?

: Called "stasis dermatitis", ie. discoloration secondary to veins in lower legs.
The ulcer is also commonly a problem secondary to the stasis dermatitis

Is on the heels: Moisturize it at night time. Use Pumice stone or Emory board in the shower and then moisturize again before putting shoes and socks on.

The skin is dry: If the skin is cracked it is dry.  There are various causes of this.  One to consider is athlete's foot.   It can easily spread to the hands via contact.   When this skin is dry, it cannot stretch where there is motion.  Water from bathing also tends to collect in these areas and can exacerbate the condition.
