Further info....: Do you have swelling in your knee related to the heat?  Typically infection if the cause of heat however if it is coming and going this is probably unlikely.  You could have a bursitis in your knee.  Going in to see your physician for evaluation while it is hot would be most beneficial to determine the cause of the heat.
