More GABA means slower brain electrical activity ; thus sluggish movements ; slurred speech. The speech is further slowed because alcohol inhibits the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate. Lower levels of glutamate slow speech. More inhibitor gaba, less activating gluctamate-slurring!
