why do my legs itch after a shower even when i put on lotion they still itch what could be the cause?

Dry Skin or Allergy: You may just have really dry skin, which happens a lot in the winter. Soaps & shaving can irritate & dry out your skin, making it itch. Try a heavier moisturizer if you haven't already. You may also be having a reaction to the soap or lotion you're using. You can try switching brands to see if that helps. If nothing is working, see your dr, there may be another underlying cause.

i get extremely itchy skin usually on my legs and when i itch it i get raised bumps and red pin point dots and it itches more. should i be concerned?

Dry skin?: Try applying a moisturizer on your legs within 3 minutes after bathing (daily bathing is encouraged) to see if this helps (may take a couple of weeks).  Avoid scented or anti-bacterial soap. If the problem fails to resolve, consult a dermatologist.

the back of my legs itch bad. when i shave it goes away. when the hair grows back it itches bad. i've had it for some time and doctors have given me antihistamines for it.  one doctor said i had an allergy to my own hair.

Itch: I don't believe that you're allergic to your own hair. Itchiness without a rash can be caused by dryness,reaction to clothing,soap,creams,etc especially if you notice itchiness elsewhere in your body. I think you'll have to experiment and try to pinpoint the cause.

Acute hives: This is called acute urticaria (chronic if over 6 wks duration) which may be caused by a viral infection, drug allergy, or other factors. Most can be controlled by taking an antihistamine . If not controlled with antihistamine or lasting more than 6 wks, consult an allergist.Stop any drug or supplement introduced within 2 weeks prior to onset if applicable.

Could be.: Allergies whether food or environmental, asthma and eczema (atopic dermatitis) are all related and frequently concomitant.  Sounds like eczema but have your doctor or dermatologist have a look.

Lac 5, cerave: Lac 5 and cerave are options. There are also prescription barrier repair creams such as eletone and hylatopic ointment or cream. The addition of esssential fatty acids to the diet such as flaxseed oil or borage oil can be helpful.

Difficult unseen: Your situation is difficult without seeing the rash but should be seen by your Dr. to be sure and treat this appropriately.  There are several skin problems that could be but need prescriptions for the treatment.  I would see the Dr. for assistance. Hope you can get some relief.

Cold weather : Can dry our skin and cause itching . Key is to avoid washing with hot water . Use good moisturizing creams , lotions , skin cleansers eg cetaphil, moisturel , aquaphor  , eucerin, neutrogena, aveeno (oatmeal) etc.
