Several reasons: Urinary tract infections in women are more likely to occur with tight clothing, wiping from back to front, taking baths vs. Showers, and sexual activity. Consult with your family doctor, internist or urologist to see if something else is occurring.

Frequent UTI's: Causes of recurrent uti's are: bacteria entering the urethra during sexual intercourse 
urinary tract problems
problems emptying the bladder completely due to blockage, muscle or nerve problems
kidney or bladder stones
see a urologist to see if you have an obstruction and, if you resolve it, you can end the problem you have with your recurrent uti's. Good luck.

UTI versus NGU: Unprotected oral sex can transmit some STDs (a lot less than vaginal or anal sex). One possibility is nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), which sometimes may be due to normal oral bacteria. Even though NGU is an infection and occurs in the urinary tract, it isn't normally called a UTI. Sometimes NGU is misdiagnosed as UTI, but these are separate problems. True UTI is rare (if ever) from oral sex.

hello. i have a uti, i used to get them fairly frequently, but it has been roughly a year since the last time. is there a way to get antibiotics to treat this without having to go in to get tested?

Not recommended: It is extremely important to treat infections with the right antibiotics at the right time. While empirical use of antibiotics in extenuating circumstances is allowed, in the long run will result in selecting multi drug resistant bacterial strains. A possible root for the infections has to be questioned as well and that will be best accomplished by using same doc(s), either primary, urology or Gyn

See urologist: Although your reflux is mild ask your urologist about reimplanting your ureters to perhaps cut down on frequent infections.

It is better to screen for UTI while your are pregnant. You should consult your physician and obstetrician to get more information for prevention and find out cause of uti.
