why do i blank stare at times?

Maybe: Depending on the degree of distractibility, an adhd person could stare off. They themselves call it "zoning out." if a stare occurs during a voluntary activity such as speech, eating, driving, etc, then it could be petit mal or absence seizures.  Think of charlie brown's teacher's "wah-wah-wah" sound turnig off an inattentive charlie.  Best to check those symptoms out with your doctor.

Counseling: There are no magic pills or answers to fix some psychological issues. It takes time and counseling. Since you know the terms, i assume you are already seeing a counselor. Talk to your counselor. If you feel like you can not talk to your counselor, then get another counselor.

Not usually: Blank stares occur in othe conition like petite mal epilepsy.

my daughter is one and i've notice when my daughter has a blank stare i see that her eyes wander. her eyes don't cross but they the other way. ?

Normal : Babies can have wandering eyes and crossed eyes as they mature.  Observe her when she is playing with something and in the distance.  The eyes should be in alignment ( by 4 months of age) but can become crossed or wander when she is tired or inattentive.  If they are becoming more crossed or wandering then tell your pediatrician and get an eye exam by an pediatric ophthalmologist.

: The owner of many symptoms deserves a thorough history and physical.  If there is any issue of difficulty breathing or disorientation is worse, consider seeking urgent or emergent care, but the best individual would be one's primary care physician who will follow the patient over time.

See eye doc: Sometimes it is the eye lid quivering which is a blepharospasm which tends to be from lack of sleep and too much stress.  When you stare at something, you don't blink as much and the tears evaporate and light rays hit a dry patch and a wet patch and get bent in different directions which changes vision.

i stared into a 28 lumen led-flashlight for 20 seconds a few times to look at pupils.. now they hurt. did i do permanent damage?

Probably not: Although you probably did no permanent damage, that kind of light exposure could be dangerous.
